THE PARISH BAZAAR

For several years after St. Pius X Church was built we continued to hold bazaars in conjunction with Immaculate Conception Parish.  Feelings of independence increased as years passed and a certainty that we could raise more money on our own than we did sharing the proceeds caused us to decide to go on our own in 1975.  The first St. Pius X Bazaar was held in I.C.C. Center but the following year, as our hall was completed we were entirely on our own.

A convenor and co-convenor are chosen each year and convenors for each booth are found, sometimes with much coaxing, but usually everyone is more than willing to help.

No matter how much money is made at the bazaar each year the real highlight is the parish life and fellowship experienced in preparation and on the day itself.  Over the years, there have been many doing their utmost to ensure that our bazaar is the best.  Mrs. Bolbecher and her dolls and fancy work booth comes to mind immediately.  Whether you want to shop for handicrafts or baked goods, treasures or toys, browsing is fun and profitable.  Everyone gets hungry and there are special treats.  The music from the Cake walk, the smell of onions from the Snack Bar build a marvelous high.  The smiles and greetings exchanged all day long are evidence of it.

At the end of the day everyone waits with baited breath as ticket stubs are put in the draw barrel.  If only everyone could be lucky.  Sighs of relief are breathed when bazaar day is over but like Christmas you can't wait for it to come around again.

This is a fun time for the whole community!  It's a once a year event where you can get as involved as you'd like - either a little or a lot!  Some people work on bazaar projects such as sewing and crafts all year long and others can only help out on Bazaar day.  There's something for everyone but the main focus is celebrating our spirit of community.
