COLLECTION FOR THE NEEDS OF THE CHURCH IN CANADA
The annual Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada will be
held in most parishes in Canada next weekend. The monies raised will be sent to our diocese, which will use
these revenues to help pay its annual contribution to the Canadian Conference
of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). Through
the work of the Bishops of Canada who are its members, the Conference is
involved in national and international areas of pastoral activity, including
ecumenical and interfaith relations, social justice, aid to developing
countries, collaboration with Aboriginal Peoples, the protection of human
life, liturgy and catechesis. It
also provides the Bishops a forum to share their experiences and insights on
the life of the Church and the major events that shape our society. The offices of the CCCB are located at 2500 Don Reid
Drive, in Ottawa, where a staff of approximately 40 works in different
services, supporting the pastoral work of the Bishops nationally and
internationally. PARENTS

AND THE RED SEA Nine-year-old Joey was asked by his mother what he had
learned in Sunday School. “Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses
behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
When he got to the Red Sea , he had his army build a pontoon bridge and all
the people walked across safely. Then he radioed headquarters for
reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites
were saved.” “Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught
you?” his Mother asked. “Well, no, Mom. But, if I told it the way the
teacher did, you'd never believe it!” Do not forget to support our Bazaar on Sept 26th.
Your participation is very important to our success.
Come out, meet friends and acquaintances, and most of all, have fun. Tidbits from the Life of St. Pius X
Pope
Pius X It was said of Pope Pius X that once he became
Pope, his usual expression was one of sadness.
Those who only saw him in public could see that he was crushed by all
the pomp and circumstance that surrounded him.
But those who knew him otherwise tell a different story.
Among those he knew best he retained the whit and the genial and merry
spirit by which he was known. “He
could be both gay and merry with the young and wonderfully tender and gentle
with those in sorrow.” “He
had the greatest heart.”
