Anointing of the Sick

If you are hospitalized, please be sure to identify yourself as a Catholic. Do not hesitate to notify the Pastor of shut-ins or hospitalized parishioners. For emergencies, call 762-2587 at any hour.

 

Once you pick up your envelopes and the label at the top has your name on it, you will not need to record your name on each envelope; the number identifies you and a tax receipt will be sent to you at the address you registered with.

ADVENT WREATH MAKING PARTY:- Families are invited to our hall on Sunday, Nov 23rd at 2pm in order to make an Advent wreath.  Please bring a couple of egg cartons and some snacks.  Advent wreaths will be blessed around 3pm.

FOOD HAMPERS:- We are continuing to give Christmas hampers by way of food vouchers to our clients and are asking that your consider giving us your donation in cash or by cheque. We are given a volume discount by the grocery store thus your money goes further.  We thank you for your generosity throughout the year and ask for your continued help. God Bless and Thank You!!!

CHILDREN’S LITURGY:- Children’s liturgy has been suspended for the time being due to a lack of leaders.  We would like to start it up again in January, but we need some people to help.  In the meantime, Fr Bart will offer a children’s homily at all 11am masses

 

CHBC’S GOOD NEWS BEARS:- the annual drive is upon us! This fundraiser will help our St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Please make your cheque payable to “ST. PIUS X, ST. VINCENT DE PAUL”.  They can be mailed to CHBC News, 342 Leon Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 6J2.  Thank you for your continued support.

 

BIRTHDAY COFFEE:- Come and celebrate the November Birthdays on Friday Nov 28th at 10am.  Everyone welcome.

CHOIR PRACTICE FOR CHRISTMAS MIDNIGHT MASS:- Anyone interested is welcome to join us Thursdays starting at 7:15pm

 

ANGEL TREE:- You will see the Society, of St. Vincent de Paul “ANGEL TREE” in the sanctuary this Sunday.  We ask that you take a tag, and then buy a Christmas present suitable for the age and gender of the child noted on the tag and then place in a gift bag and put the present under the tree with the tag on the outside by Sundays December 7th.  Presents should not exceed $30 in value. Also on the tree you will find tags marked “Camp”. A person taking this tag can place up to $30 in an envelope and place it in the box under tree marked for this purpose. These proceeds will be used to send as many children to summer camp as possible. Again thank you for your wonderful generosity.

Our Pilgrimage of faith:- has begun and is off to a great start.  We are at 97% of the Diocesan goal.  Thank you for your generosity.

50TH ANNIVERSARY UPDATE:- a suggestion has been made that we celebrate our 50th Anniversary Banquet on Fri, Aug 21st on the Feast of St. Pius Xth.  The weekend will conclude with an Anniversary Mass on Sunday, Aug 23rd.  Please mark your calendars early.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL:- We are looking for 2 or 3 good people who are willing to help set the direction for our parish as a Parish Council Member. Please consider stepping forward to add new ideas and new energy to our parish family.  Parish Pastoral Council meetings are on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7pm.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT & BAKE SALE:- Sat, Nov 29th from 9am‑2pm St Theresa’s 750 Rutland Road N. Table Rentals are available call Dorothy at (250) 763‑0609. Christmas Baking, Crafts, Jewelry, Books, Collectibles and much, much more.  Enjoy lunch at Santa’s Café.  Everyone is welcome.

TRAVELLING ADVENT BOX:- Families are invited to sign up to receive our travelling Advent Box into their home.  The box contains an advent wreath, nativity set, prayer book, Christmas story, goodie box and a notebook to record your comments or ideas.  Families who are willing to host the “Advent Box” for two or three days are asked to sign up on the registration sheet at the entrances of the church or contact Sr. Mary Ann at (250) 762‑6841.  In order to make sure there is always something in the goodie box, each family is encouraged to fill it with something (be aware of allergies and avoid peanuts and nuts) after they have enjoyed the snack that is presently there.  The Advent Box is a great way to build community among families.

ANNUAL CWL COOKIE SALE:-  Will be held on Sunday, Dec 14th at the K of C Breakfast.  All ladies of the parish are asked to bring 6 dozen cookies to the parish hall on Fri Dec 12th between 9am and noon and then bring your friends on Sunday and do your Christmas cookie shopping.  Cookies may be frozen if you wish to make them ahead of time.  Proceeds will be going to the “Bishop Fund for Life” (Pro‑life).  For more information please call Rita Fairhurst (250) 762‑7346 or Jo Stewart (250) 762‑3990

Rosary for peace & for families:- The rosary is prayed for peace and for families every Friday at 3:00pm in ICC church.  Please join us.

Rachel's Vineyard sponsors a Holy Hour at St. Charles Garnier Church the third Tuesday of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. after the 8:30 a.m. Mass.  Please join us in prayer for an end to abortion and for the healing of all those who have been touched by abortion. 

FALL SOCIAL:- A function for Knights and ladies only. Saturday Nov. 29.  $5 per person, Mass @ St. Pius at 5:00, Cocktails at 6:00, supper at 6:45 p.m.  Tickets available from Andy Sambrielaz, (250) 762‑3289.  Reserved tickets can be picked up at the door.  If you reserve tickets and do not show up, you will be asked to still pay for your dinner.  NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.

MASS ON VISION TV:- It has come to our attention that the Vision TV Daily Mass may be discontinued if it does not have enough sponsors.  Our parish visitors see how much this mass nourishes our sick and shut‑in parishioners.  We would like to sponsor a mass as a parish project. To begin this project, we invite you to attend a lunch that will be served after 11am mass on the 1st Sunday of Advent Nov 30th.  All donations received for this lunch will begin a fund to sponsor a mass on Vision TV.  Hope to see you there.

PRO LIFE 101:- an informational workshop designed to empower you with the knowledge and confidence to competently defend the pro life view, will be held at the Kelowna Right to Life office on Thursday, November 27th, 7:30 - 9:00 pm.
