ADVENT HOLY HOUR

During the season of Advent, St Pius X Parish would like to sponsor a Holy Hour beginning with evening prayer at 7:00pm on Sunday evenings.  Come and pray for a greater openness to Christ in the life of our community as we journey towards Christmas.

PRAYER DURING THE DAY

Any parishioner who would like to pray in the church between the hours of 9:30am – noon or 1:00pm – 4:00pm can simply come to the office and they will be let in.

BOTTLE DRIVE FOR ST VINCENT DE PAUL

Coast Exterior Junior Rockets are doing a bottle drive to help support our St Vincent de Paul Society.  Please bring in any empty bottles you may have lying around and put them in the box provided after the masses next weekend, Nov 28/29.

PERFUMES & COLOGNES

We would ask that the wearing of perfumes and colognes be avoided as some parishioners have allergies to scents.

ADVENT BOX

We will have the “Family Advent Box” again this year.  It contains articles that help families prepare for Christmas.  There is a schedule at the main entrance of the church for families to sign up to have the box in their home.  The family that has the box will need to get in touch with the next family so that it can be exchanged.  It is very important to leave your phone number on the sign up sheet.  It will be the responsibility of the family that has the box to refill the goody box before it gets passed on.  We look forward to this year’s comments in the comment book included in the box.  The box will be given to the first family on the schedule on Nov 29th (the first Sunday of Advent) at the 11:00am Mass.

Tidbits from the Life of St. Pius X

Pope Pius X

A personal friend once brought up the scathing abuse Pope Pius X received from a Modernist writer.  At which the Pope smiled.  “Come”, he said, “did he not also say that, after all, I was a good priest?  Now, of all praise, that is the only praise I have ever valued.”  “A holy priest makes others holy”, he said on another occasion; “A priest who is not holy is not only useless but harmful.”
