COMMUNION:-
First Communion will be
celebrated on May 10th at 11am mass. VOLUNTEER
APPRECIATION WINE & CHEESE:- All those who have volunteered
their services in any way at St. Pius X church and its organizations
are welcome to come to the hall on May 8th from 7pm to 9pm. ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!
Seton House of Prayer Raffle Tickets are now available. Tickets are $2
each ($20 for a book.) 1ST Prize $1,000, 2ND Prize
$500, 3RD Prize $300 and 4TH Prize $200. Draw will
be at the Seton House Fundraiser on June 19th. Tickets are

St. Pius X Knights invite all to attend their
Breakfast on May 10th after both Sunday masses. HEALING
THE WOUNDS OF ABUSE:- Doctor Theresa Burke, founder of Rachel’s Vineyard, a program for
post-abortion recovery, will be in Kelowna speaking about Grief to Grace, a
new program that she has developed for healing from abuse.
This event will take place at Immaculate Conception Church, 839
Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, at 7pm on May 20th.
Grief to Grace is a psychological and spiritual journey for anyone who
has suffered physical, sexual and emotional abuse or neglect.
With the blessing of Bishop John Corriveau, Grief to Grace is being
launched here in our diocese. An
invitation to attend the May 20th event, which includes
refreshments, is extended to everyone. Tickets
are $15 each or $25 per couple, and are available at the Loaves and Fishes

NEWS:- May 5th,
being the last day for Catechism, will begin with mass at 6pm, followed by
presentations and a pot luck snack. Please
bring something to share. BILLETING:-
We are looking for billets for "Our Lady of Pentecost" summer
leaders institute being held in Kelowna Sun Aug 9th to Sat Aug 15th
at St. Elizabeth Seton House of Prayer. Accommodation at Seton House is
already full. Lunch and dinner are supplied by the institute. If you
have a room you are willing to billet for someone out of town please contact

DO YOUR VBS GIFTS AND TALENTS LIE?:-We
still need a total of 30 volunteers for our Catholic Vacation Bible
School program this summer. "The Mass Comes Alive!" in our

ICC). We need to determine IF we
have the support to continue planning this summer camp.

IN LITURGY:- Anyone
interested in becoming well versed in all things to do with liturgy, the
University of St. Paul offers a Summer Institute for lay people each summer.
This year’s dates: July 6th to 17th.

OF LIFE:-
meets at Immaculate Conception Parish the first Saturday of each month in
Charity Hall at 9:45am. We read one line of scripture and a short commentary
by Chiara Lubich foundress of the Focolare Movement. We then share our
experiences of attempting to put the gospel into action over the month. All
welcome. MUSICIANS & SINGERS:- The 9am Sunday Mass desperately
needs people to lead the congregation in song every second Sunday. Please consider this important ministry and contact the

celebrate Vocation Sunday, Serra Kelowna has plated magnetic vocations prayer
card in the bulletin. Please have

Fr.
Giuseppe Sarto Four years into his stay at the seminary, Giuseppe Sarto was asked to
temporarily look after the Diocese while a new Bishop was being found.
Though he was somewhat reluctant to accept so great a task, he could
only trust that the same colleagues who had voted for him would back him up by
their help and support. His role as administrator lasted less than a year but, he did
the role justice. By now, it was
becoming obvious to those around him that this country pastor of humble
beginnings would, one day, be entrusted a Diocese of his own.
