	Anointing of the Sick If you are hospitalized, please be sure to identify yourself as a Catholic. Do not hesitate to notify the Pastor of shut-ins or hospitalized parishioners. Once you pick up your envelopes and the label at the top has your name on it, you will not need to record your name on each envelope; the number identifies you and a tax receipt will be sent to you at the address you registered with.

NO WEEKDAY MASSES:- Fr Bart is away Monday to Thursday to represent the priests of the diocese in Prince Albert for a conference.  Weekday Masses will resume on Friday.

THANK YOU to the girls who are singing for the First Communion Mass at 11:00am this Sunday: Sophia Rideout, Joelle Bourbeau, Annaka Gallagher, Katrina Gallagher, and Natalia Greenwood as well as Mary Gallagher for accompaniment on the keyboard.  Thanks for your dedication to the practices this past month as well as for sharing your musical gifts with us.

HEALING THE WOUNDS OF ABUSE:- Doctor Theresa Burke, founder of Rachel’s Vineyard, a program for post-abortion recovery, will be in Kelowna speaking about Grief to Grace, a new program that she has developed for healing from abuse.  This event will take place at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, at 7pm on May 20^th.  Grief to Grace is a psychological and spiritual journey for anyone who has suffered physical, sexual and emotional abuse or neglect.  With the blessing of Bishop John Corriveau, Grief to Grace is being launched here in our diocese.  An invitation to attend the May 20^th event, which includes refreshments, is extended to everyone.  Tickets are $15 each or $25 per couple, and are available at the Loaves and Fishes book store, ICC parish office, or Reach Out Youth Counselling Centre.  For more information call (250) 878-7603.

CWL MEETING:- Tuesday, May 12 in the Fr. Martin room at 7:15pm.  All ladies of the parish are welcome.

MASS AT SANDALWOOD:- May 14^th at 10am Fr Charlie will officiate.

MONDAY MORNING MASS AT ICC:- will be at 8:00am.

ST. PIUS X K OF C BREAKFAST:- St. Pius X Knights invite all to attend their Breakfast this Sunday May 10^th after both Sunday masses.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT:- We need volunteers to come forward NOW in order for the Catholic Vacation Bible School (VBS) this summer to proceed. If you volunteer for the week, your children attend for free!!  Our VBS Team Meeting is Wednesday, May 13^th at 9:30am. We will meet in Charity Hall (behind ICC). If we have the support we need, fantastic; if not, we will have no choice but to cancel VBS.

We need a total of 30 volunteers for our Catholic Vacation Bible School program this summer. "The Mass Comes Alive!" is our theme.  There are 10 Team Leader positions still to be filled (Faith, Craft, Fun & Games, Snack, Decoration, Welcome Committee, Group Guide, Skit & Assembly, Childcare, Closing Celebration). Each Team in turn needs from 2 to10 assistants, depending on the area.  As well, we are also looking for a Treasurer, an Assistant Program Director, Computer Support, a Runner/Floater, and a Photographer/Videographer. 

Camp dates: July 13^th – 17^th at Immaculata High School Also, Aug 17^th – 21^st at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

TOMATO PLANT CAGES:- Fr. Bart is growing a couple of dozen tomato plants in his garden.  If anyone has some cages hanging around their shed that they are not using, please call him at (250) 762-2587.

SUMMER SCHOOL IN LITURGY:- Anyone interested in becoming well versed in all things to do with liturgy, the University of St. Paul offers a Summer Institute for lay people each summer.  This year’s dates: July 6^th to 17^th.  Contact the Parish Office for more information.

PEOPLE OF FAITH:-  Prayer meeting will meet on Wednesdays at 10am in Charity Hall behind Immaculate Conception Church. Everyone is welcome to join us in prayer of praise, worship, thanksgiving, and intercession.

SETON HOUSE OF PRAYER FUNDRAISER:- Fri, June 19^th at Immaculate Conception Parish Centre. Join us for dinner, silent auction, raffle draw and enjoy the music of Ceol na hEireann (Music of Ireland). THE CATHOLIC SPIRITUALITY COURSE:- presented by Fr. Cesar Macariola will resume Thurs. evenings  @ 7pm.  Final session May 14^th @  St. Pius X Parish.  Everyone Welcome.

50^th ANNIVERSARY OF ORDINATION:- Monsignor Charlie Mulvihill’s 50^th anniversary will take place Friday June 5^th at Immaculate Conception Parish. Monsignor Charlie will celebrate Mass at 5:00 pm followed by dinner in the Parish Centre. Tickets are available at ICC Office as of Monday May 11^th. $25 each. PERPETUAL ADORATION:- To make sure that we do not forget, Jesus gave us the Eucharist as a memorial of His love.  When you look at the crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then; when you look at the Sacred Host, you understand how much Jesus loves you now. MARCH FOR LIFE:- Mark your calendars now for the upcoming March for Life in Victoria on May 14^th! This year marks the 40^th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in Canada.  Marches are being held in several major centres across the country on the 14^th. NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING:-  Pro Life Vigil & Mass Wed May 13^th to mourn 40 years of legal abortion in Canada.  3.7 million unborn babies, women & men have suffered abortion trauma during this "40 yrs in the desert" of the culture of death.  Vigil @ KGH @ 6pm.  Followed by mass @ ICC @ 7:15pm. SPRING BASICS OF THE FAITH FOR ADULTS:- The topic for this course is Prayer and Spirituality.  Friday May 22^nd 6:00 - 9:15pm & Sat 23^rd 8:30am - 3:30pm at St. Theresa’s Parish.  Lunch will be provided.

MASS AT THE HOSPITAL:- There is a weekly Wednesday Mass in the Kelowna General Hospital Chapel at 3:30pm.  All patients, staff, volunteers and visitors are welcome.

 

50^th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ENVELOPES:- Envelopes, that you can use to help defray the cost of our 50th Anniversary Weekend (Aug 21^st – 23^rd), are available at the entrances to the church.  We are trying to keep the costs down to a minimum for the weekend activities, so that large families and parishioners on fixed income can participate.  Your contribution, at any time during the next few months, can be placed in the Sunday collection or brought to the office.  Thanks, Fr. CATHOLIC FAMILIES:- Did you know there is a calendar of city-wide events for Catholic families which is put out monthly by the North Okanagan Deanery Family Life Ministry (NOD flm)?  But you need to get on the email list to receive it: contact admin@okanagancatholic.ca.  (Your address will not be used for any other purpose!)

CHOIR MEMBERS:- The 9:00am Sunday Choir welcomes new members.  Practices are held every Thursday at 7:15pm

WORD OF LIFE:- meets at Immaculate Conception Parish the first Saturday of each month in Charity Hall at 9:45am. We read one line of scripture and a short commentary by Chiara Lubich foundress of the Focolare Movement. We then share our experiences of attempting to put the gospel into action over the month. All welcome.

BILLETING:- We are looking for billets for "Our Lady of Pentecost" summer leaders institute being held in Kelowna Sun Aug 9^th to Sat Aug 15^th at St. Elizabeth Seton House of Prayer.  Accommodation at Seton House is already full. Lunch and dinner are supplied by the institute.  If you have a room you are willing to billet for someone out of town please contact Madeleine at (250) 764-689; gemad@shaw.ca.

SPANISH MASS:- There will NOT be a Spanish Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in May.
