to the extraordinary work of its partners. They are all dedicated to building
a more just world, especially for the most marginalized, many of whom are
women. To learn more about the work of DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE partners, please
read this year’s Share Lent Mini-Magazine which is inserted into this
week’s bulletin. There you can read about the work of a partner in Burundi,
Africa that helps women benefit from a more just income when selling their
coffee, and a partner in Bolivia that has found innovative ways to improve
women’s health and safety. The Mini-Magazine also includes DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE’s financial
statements for 2008-09. It also includes an opportunity to join the Share
Year-Round, the monthly giving program of DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE.

Fr.
Giuseppe Sarto Giuseppe Sarto’s reputation as a exceptional preacher received a greater
boost on the day when his supervising pastor was talking to one of the priests
overseeing the operations at the Cathedral.
The man had not yet found someone suitable to preach at the cathedral
on its feastday. When it was time
for Giuseppe to fulfill the honour, the people were aghast to find out that an
assistant priest from some backward town had been asked.
But, when he spoke his words were so simple and direct that their
grumblings were silenced. Though he preached more than an hour, no one even noticed.
