If you are hospitalized, please be sure to identify yourself as a Catholic. Do not hesitate to notify the Pastor of shut-ins or hospitalized parishioners. For emergencies, call 762-2587 at any hour.

 

 

Once you pick up your envelopes and the label at the top has your name on it, you will not need to record your name on each envelope; the number identifies you and a tax receipt will be sent to you at the address you registered with.

 

 

 

 



 

A BIG THANK YOU to all the people who helped make our Easter celebrations run smoothly and be so beautiful.  Thank you to Sr. Mary Ann Moyer, Diane Donoghue, Helen Colbert & Peter Huang for splitting the palms for Passion Sunday and getting the congregation candles set up for the Vigil and Easter Sunday masses.  Thank you to Clarence Becker, Bob Fairhurst, Andre Kosiorek, Alpha Stefiuk, Helen Colbert, Denis Barnes, Irene Cuncannon, Richard Bitz, Rita Fairhurst, Mike Sehn, Rose Sehn and Doug Greenwood for taking part in the Holy Thursday foot washing. FIRST COMMUNION MEETING:  Parents are reminded of our last organizational meeting on Thursday, April 10th at 7 p.m.  All parents are expected to be in attendance.

CONFIRMATION RETREAT:  All confirmation candidates are expected to attend the Confirmation Retreat on Friday April 4th from 7 – 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 5th from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Please bring a lunch on Saturday and don’t forget your completed work.

CONFIRMATION REHEARSAL:  Sunday, April 13th, at 2 p.m. in the church.  Candidates, parents, and sponsors please attend.

CONFIRMATION CEREMONY:  Wednesday, April 16th at 7 p.m.  The whole community is invited to welcome Bishop John Corriveau as he comes to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with our young people.

THE CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE:  is aiming to reorganize its fundraising which is mainly catering to funeral lunches and other events. If you are interested in helping either by suggestion or helping out there will be a meeting Tuesday, April 1st after the 9:00 a.m. mass in the Father Martin Room.  Everyone is welcome.  For more information call Carroll at 762-0447.

2ND ANNUAL PICKEREL FRY AND DANCE:  St. Pius X Knights of Columbus will again host its annual pickerel fry and dance, Saturday, April 19th in the parish hall.  Tickets are $15 each.  Dance to live music.  This event sold out quickly last year so it is recommended you get your tickets early.  Tickets are available from Tony Bestick at 712-0615 or Jim White at 862-5109.  This event is open to all parishioners and guests.

COME TO THE SOURCE:  St. Charles Garnier Parish invites you to join us as we adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  Prayer, Praise & Music immediately after the final blessing at 7:30 p.m. mass officiated by Father Bart van Roijen this Sunday night, March 30th, to honour this Divine Mercy Sunday & Celebrate Easter!  Devotional Candles will be available for intentions.

MARIAN HOUR OF PRAYER:  The Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring our Marian Hour of Prayer at Holy Spirit Church on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.  We invite and encourage all to take part and pray with us where we will celebrate Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre.  It is appropriate for the Knights to honour our Lady of Charity this year since Charity is one of the order’s main principles.  This program is an opportunity to reflect on the virtue of charity and what it means to all of us.

PASTORAL VISITORS MEETING The next meeting will be held in the Catechetical Centre (1056 Fuller Avenue) on Tuesday, April 1st at 1:30 p.m.  All those who visit the sick or shut-in members of our parish are invited to attend.

MASS AT SANDALWOOD:  The next mass at the Sandalwood Retirement Home, (580 Yates) will be held April 10th, 10 a.m. with Msgr. Charlie Mulvihill officiating.

FUNERAL MASS:  Monday, March 31, 10:30 a.m. there will be a funeral mass for John Mitchell.  John recently celebrated his 100th birthday.

EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS, QUEBEC, JUNE 15 – 22 ($400 REIMBURSEMENT):  The Pilgrimage of Faith will reimburse $400 per person for confirmed registered pilgrims from our dioceses who attend this Congress.  This is the final call for registrations.  The cost is now $230 and there are good air fares available to Quebec City.  At present, we have 15 confirmed pilgrims from across the Diocese.  Contact Father Clarke at Sparwood for more information:  hjclarke@shaw.ca, or 250 425 6444.

A PLAY YOU DEFINITELY DON'T WANT TO MISS:  Fr. Edward Evanko as DAMIEN. Story by Aldyth Morris will be at the Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1091 Coronation Ave., on Friday, April 25th at 7 PM. Tickets are on sale now for $20.00 including wine and cheese reception after the play. It is the story of a Catholic missionary who devoted his life to ministering to the lepers on the Hawaiian island of Molokai.  Fr. Edward Evanko is a Broadway actor and singer who became a Ukrainian Catholic priest and now serves the Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Richmond, BC. Before his ordination to the priesthood in 2005, Evanko had appeared in more than 200 musicals in Canada, the United States and Japan. In the 1960s he hosted his own national (Canadian) television series, "The Ed Evanko Show".  Damien has been so successful that he has been invited to perform it in Melbourne and in Sydney, Australia, as part of World Youth Day 2008.  Limited Tickets Available: Call: 250-860-7295
