HOLY COMMUNION FOR CELIACS

Those suffering from Celiac react negatively to gluten in wheat.  Since all communion hosts contain wheat, those suffering from Celiac are strongly encouraged to receive from the cup.  Please let the priest know prior to Mass and a special Communion cup will be blessed for this purpose and placed on the corner of the altar.  Due to the possibility of cross-contamination, no one receiving the Sacred Host should receive from this cup.

TRAVELING CHALICE

As part of our focus on the call of God, families are encouraged to sign up to take the Traveling Chalice home and pray the prayer before any family meal.  Please sign up on the sheet provided in the church.  This initiative will continue into spring.

CWL BURSARY NEWS

Two bursaries are available to the baptized son, daughter or grandchild of a CWL member of St Pius X Council.  The student must be a 2010 graduate of School District #23 or Immaculata High School.  Other criteria apply.  Letters of application must be submitted by March 31st, 2010.  For further information please contact Lucille Jakubec (250) 763‑4738

HOLY HOUR FOR PRIESTS - A LOCAL PILGRIMAGE

The next Holy Hour for Priests will be Wed Mar 17th, at Holy Spirit Church - Mass at 10:30 am Holy Hour from 11:00 am - noon. 

PERFUMES & COLOGNES

We would ask that the wearing of perfumes and colognes be avoided as some parishioners have allergies to scents.

FRIDAY DEVOTIONS

Throughout Lent, we will have evening prayer Fridays at 6:45 pm followed by the Stations of the Cross.  Please join us.

THE NATIONAL CATHOLIC MISSION 2010

 “A God for All Seasons” will be broadcast on VISIONTV on Monday, March 29th (Part 1) and Tuesday, March 30th (Part 2) at 6:00 pm and repeated at 8:00 pm.  It will feature Spiritan Father Pat Fitzpatrick and Benedictine Sister Joan Chittister.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR

Because of Spring break the next Mass for the children’s choir will be April 11th.  We will hold practice after catechism on Tuesdays – March 2nd, March 23rd and April 6th.

SUNDAY HOLY HOUR

We will continue our Sunday evening holy hours beginning with evening prayer at 7:00 pm.  As we continue the season of Lent, let us pray for a new spirit of conversion in our community.

SETON HOUSE OF PRAYER FUNDRAISING DINNER

Fundraising Dinner, Silent Auction, Entertainment and Raffle Draw will be held at Immaculate Conception Church Hall on Fri Apr 16th.  Happy Hour at 5:30 pm and Dinner at 6:30 pm.  Tickets are $25 per person / $50 per couple.  Tickets are available at Loaves & Fishes, at our Parish Office or Seton House of Prayer. PARISH BAZAAR

Bev Smith has come forward and has agreed to be convener for this year’s bazaar. She will contact the various conveners very soon.  She is counting on the continuing support of parishioners.  As more information is becomes available it will be shared with all.  If you need to contact Bev her number is (250) 869‑4183.

ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!

Seton House of Prayer Raffle Tickets are now available. Tickets are $2 each ($20 for a book.) 1st Prize $1,000, 2nd Prize $500, 3rd Prize $300 and 4th Prize $200.  Draw will be at the Seton House Fundraiser on April 16th. PRAYER DURING THE DAY

Any parishioner who would like to pray in the church between the hours of 9:30 am – noon or 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm can simply come to the office and they will be let in.

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS TO SAY AT HOME

God of all creation, in baptism you called each of us by name to be your children.  We give you thanks and praise for this gift.
May the Good News of Jesus Christ, which inspired the first disciples to ‘Come and See’, continue to speak in our world today.
Bless the Diocese of Nelson with men and women who will answer your call to speak your Word as religious brothers and sisters, priests and deacons.  We make this prayer through Jesus, your Son and our Brother. Amen.

CHRISM MASS

The Chrism mass will be held at the cathedral in Nelson on Monday, March 29th at 7:00 pm.  This is a very beautiful mass in which the priests of the Diocese renew their vows and the holy oils are blessed for the year.  We are arranging a car pool for those who would like to attend.  We would drive up on Monday and return on Tuesday.  Supper is provided on Monday evening but they must know who is coming.  If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office at 250-762-2587.

THE LEGION OF MARY

On Thu, Mar 25th, there will be a celebration of the Acies (consecration to the B.V.M.) at Immaculate Conception Church. Mass is at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon in the Hall. All are invited. All are welcome.

ST PIUS X AGM

St Pius X is hosting their Annual General Meeting on Sunday March 21st from 2:00 – 3:00 pm in the Hall.  The meeting will include a report on finances, our latest renovations and ongoing concerns.  There will also be an opportunity for your questions and input.  Please bring a dessert for afterwards.

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES WORKSHOP

A workshop for all liturgical ministries –Eucharistic ministers, Music, Lectors, ushers/greeters and Adult Altar Servers – will be held on Saturday March 20th, at 10:15 am.  Fr. Bart will be giving a presentation on Liturgy and its meaning.  All current members of these ministries are encouraged to attend as well as anyone who is interested in joining a liturgical ministry.  It is important that everyone takes the time to participate.

Monday March 15th at 7:00 pm in the church.  The first part of the best presentation I have seen or heard on the subject of Christian Conscience.  It is clear, complete and easy to understand.  It stresses the basic principles that underlies all Christian Moral and Social Teaching.  These basic principles are both life giving and life affirming and essential for the Christian life.
