Tidbits from the Life of St. Pius Xth

Fr. Giuseppe Sarto

It wasn’t long before Giuseppe Sarto’s reputation as a preacher became known.  A close friend of his, who was serving as assistant in a nearby parish, was faced with the prospect of not having a preacher for their local mission.  The priest, who had been contacted, had been unable to come and the situation was desperate.  He decided to ask his good friend, Giuseppe, who was less than impressed with being asked at the last minute.  But, with the help of Fr Constantini, they whisked him off to the nearby parish.  And, although he had only one hour of prep time, Giuseppe was an instant success.
