save their partially used supplies like crayons, scribblers, pencils, picture
books, anything that a poor child in a third world country would love to have
. Ask your school to gather them up and call Rosemary at (778) 478‑2156

PHOTOGRAPHER:-
St. Pius is on the lookout for a volunteer who would like to serve as our
official parish photographer. This
person will be responsible for taking pictures at important times of the year
and making them available to the parish.
Such a person does not have to be at all the events but can delegate
someone to be there instead. We
are also looking for any volunteer photographers to be on-call for particular
events. Please contact the office
at (250) 762‑2587. ROOF

The building committee has recommended the replacement of the siding covering
parts of the hall and church and also the shingles covering the church, hall

The Parish Pastoral Council has approved the project and the finances. BAZAAR

Cardinal
Giuseppe Sarto Although Cardinal Sarto
had been appointed as Archbishop of Venice, he wasn’t able to begin his
ministry in Venice until the Italian government approved the appointment.
The Italian government had taken it upon itself to approve or
disapprove of who was nominated as patriarch of Venice.
The local government in Venice was equally stubborn.
It took sixteen months before the approval was given.
When it did come, the city opened its arms wide for her newest
patriarch. Cardinal Sarto
entered the city aboard the king’s yacht.
He was overheard saying: “If I did not know that these honours were
meant for Jesus Christ and not for my own poor person, I would feel deeply
ashamed.”
June 24, 2009 To the Priests, Religious and Faithful of the Diocese of Nelson Dear sisters and brothers, “Christ’s faithful who make an offering so that Mass can be celebrated for their intention, contribute to the good of the Church, and by that offering they share in the Church’s concern for the support of its ministers and its activities.” (Code of Canon Law, §946) It has been a custom in the Church for many centuries for individuals to make offerings on the occasion of the celebration of the Divine Eucharist as an expression of their prayer for their own needs, the needs of their families, neighbours, the community and, especially, their deceased loved ones. The Code of Canon Law requires that the Bishop of the Diocese exercise surveillance over this custom. In keeping with the practice common in most Canadian Dioceses, the suggested Mass offering in the Diocese of Nelson is ten dollars. This change will take effect immediately. Since this is an offering and not a payment, it does not effect in any way the Masses already requested and/or scheduled in our parishes. Fraternally in Christ,
John Corriveau, OFMCap. Bishop of Nelson
