CHILDREN’S LITURGY:- We will be having Children’s Liturgy after the 11am Mass beginning again in September.  We do have teachers for the ministry. However, in order to serve the children better, each teacher will need an assistant, could be a student.  The duties will be to assist the teacher one Sunday a month.  If you are interested in this ministry, please phone Mary Anna Cimbaro (250) 712‑9936, Sr. Mary Ann (250) 762‑6841 or the office (250) 762‑2587.

BAZAAR CONVENERS NEEDED:- Apple Pie Making, Treasures, Grand Raffles, Set up & Takedown, Children’s Toys & Games and the Cake Walk.  It is the Parish’s biggest fund raiser and lots of fun but we need your help.  Any booths that do not have a convener will have to be dropped from the bazaar.  Thank you Sharon Schwab (250) 861-2945.

PARISH PHOTOGRAPHER:- St. Pius is on the lookout for a volunteer who would like to serve as our official parish photographer.  This person will be responsible for taking pictures at important times of the year and making them available to the parish.  Such a person does not have to be at all the events but can delegate someone to be there instead.  We are also looking for any volunteer photographers to be on-call for particular events.  Please contact the office at (250) 762‑2587

CATECHISM NEWS:- Registration forms are being sent out for next term.  We will begin Catechism on Sept 15th.  Please fill out your registration forms and either put them in the collection in an envelope marked “Catechism Registration” or bring them to the office.  If you need a registration form for your child for next term, you can pick one up at the office.

STRENGTH IN WEAKNESS
Many times we catch ourselves making judgments about people who are different from ourselves. Even though, like Jesus, they may be speaking truth, we judge that we don’t need to pay attention to them because they dress differently or they are obviously poor or homeless or uneducated or whatever. God speaks truth through Prophets, no matter who they are!
(based on Catholic Social Teaching]

THANK YOU:- to Mr. & Mrs. Thinh Tran for the kind donation towards the flowers for this weekend’s Masses.

KELOWNA RIGHT TO LIFE:- On Sat July 11th, we will be holding a demonstration at the corner of Hwy 97 and Richter Street from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. We will be using large, graphic images of aborted babies to make Kelownians aware of the horrific reality of abortion that is occurring right here in our beautiful community. Please consider joining us for this important and effective event. Call the office at (250) 862‑8202 or email us at kelownarighttolife@telus.net for more information and to register.

Tidbits from the Life of St. Pius Xth

Pius X Cardinal

Cardinal Giuseppe Sarto

As in previous appointments, Cardinal Sarto was most concerned about the ministries of teaching and preaching.  According to him, though people had become more educated in all things, their understanding of religion was deplorable.  He took full responsibility for this defect.  “There is too much preaching and too little teaching”, he used to say.  “We as priests should stop focusing on impressing the people with our floury language and speak plainly the truths of our faith.”
