FOOD BANK MONTH

July is a traditionally low point at the Kelowna Food Bank when it comes to food donations.  St. Pius X Parish is planning to help.  In addition to donating $2,000 for perishable items such as milk and eggs, we also hope to collect non-perishable items each Sunday as you come to Mass.  All July is Food Bank month, please bring your contributions to Church or you can drop them off at the Kelowna Community Food Bank at 1265 Ellis Street.  Financial donations are also welcome between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm at the Food Bank.  Due to their non-profit status, they can buy three times more food for a dollar than we can.

FLOWERS FOR THE ALTAR

Now that spring has sprung and gardens are starting to yield, donations of flowers from your gardens would be greatly appreciated.  Just leave them in the buckets inside the Fuller St. entrance and they will be added to the arrangements that grace the sanctuary on the weekends.  Even bring the cuttings left when you trim deciduous hedges as they would be very useful as greenery in arrangements.

EXTRA FOOD GROCERY RECEIPTS

Please save your grocery receipts & drop off at the front of the church in the marked boxes or jars, or they may be left at the Pro Life Thrift Shop.  These can be redeemed for food vouchers & assist the work of St. Vincent de Paul & the Pregnancy Care Society.  Thank you for your consideration & help.

A policeman was taking a vandalism report at an elementary school when he was interrupted by a six year old girl. She looked up and down at his uniform and asked, "Are you a policeman?"

"Yes, I am," he said.
