EXTERIOR RENOVATIONS (FURTHER NEWS):- We have had to make a slight change to our renovations.  After opening up the roof in two trial areas, it was found that only half of the building can be properly insulated.  As it is, the church portion has absolutely no insulation nor is there room for any without great expense (It would take about 30 to 40 years to make up the cost).  Total cost of the project: including insulation in the hall but not the church is $65,000.

QUILT RAFFLE TICKETS:- Please pick up your books.  The success of this fund raiser depends on your continued support.  Last year our proceeds exceeded $4,000 for the Parish.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION:- A four week Marriage preparation course iL1 begin at St. Charles Gamier on Tuesday, August 254h at 7:00 p m The cost is $60.00 per couple.

LIVING THE VALUES OF JESUS
Jesus instructed his disciples to adjust their view of the world, to begin seeing as God sees. His values were definitely different from the values of the world of his time. As Christians, we are called to have his same values: honouring the dignity of every human person, caring for all creation, including all in God’s family, embracing people who are poor. Following Jesus requires us to live these values.

Tidbits from the Life of St. Pius Xth

Pius X Cardinal

Cardinal Giuseppe Sarto

“The restoration of society in Christ is the only cure for all the world’s evils,” he would often say.  “No good is good which is not rooted and founded in Christ.”  Those who had grown bitter towards the Church were quickly won over.  Those who aspired towards a different agenda quickly rallied to his charitable schemes.  Cardinal Sarto was seen to be at ease among both the powerful and among the weak.  His simple demeanour and gracious presence served him well no matter what he did; from visiting the sick and dealing with the disadvantaged to speaking with the powerful or preaching the word of God.
