ADORATION AND NO 9 A.M. MASS:
Adoration will be from 8 – 9:30 a.m.
There will be no 9 a.m. Mass due to the Memorial Mass at 2:00 and the
Bishops Retirement Mass at I.C.C. in the evening. RETIREMENT
CELEBRATION FOR BISHOP EUGENE COONEY: The
North Okanagan Deanery invites you to a Mass of Thanksgiving, and Reception
for Bishop Eugene, on Friday January 11th,
2008 at Immaculate Conception parish. Mass
will be celebrated at 7 p.m. followed by a light Reception at the Parish
Center. If any groups want to
make a presentation to the Bishop, please email your intentions to Fr. Wayne
Pfliger, c/o c.sinotte@shaw.ca (Deanery
Secretary). There will also be a
basket available at the Reception for your prayer and gift cards. CONFIRMATION MEETING:
There will be a meeting for all candidates (and their parents) who are
preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Pius X Parish.
This meeting will take place on Thursday, January 17th, at 7
p.m. in the hall. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
CLASSES:
Classes will begin again on Tuesday, January 8th. Canadian Food for Children:
Rosemary Lalonde has temporarily offered a room in her home for the
packing of supplies until a more permanent place can be found.
Please make note that, the contact number for the Canadian Food for
Children is now 250 766 2135 (Rosemary).
All donations may be dropped off at the Pro Life Thrift Shop that is
open Wednesday to Saturday from 10:00
until 4:00. Their phone
number is 762-9266. Thank you to all who share time and donations to
help the poor. ORDINATION OF BISHOP-ELECT JOHN CORRIVEAU, O.F.M.CAP.: The
new Bishop will be ordained to serve as the sixth Bishop of the Diocese of
Nelson. The Mass of Ordination
will be at Immaculate Conception Church (839 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna) at 3
PM on Wednesday, 30 January, 2008. A
Meet-and Greet reception will follow in the parish centre. The people of the diocese are also welcome to attend a formal
banquet, following the parish reception.
The banquet will be at The Grand Okanagan Lakefront Hotel at 7 PM.
Your name will be on the guest list upon payment of $50 to your parish
office. SERVICE
OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY: On Sunday,
January 13, at First United Church (corner of Bernard & Richter). A
service of prayer for Christian Unity will take place at 3:00pm, and will be
followed by a time of coffee and fellowship.

is prayed every Friday at 3 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church.

MASS:
The next Spanish Language Mass for the Hispanic Community will be held at
Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Westbank, on Sunday, January 20th, at
3:30 p.m. All Spanish speaking
people from the Okanagan Valley are welcome to attend.
A social will follow the Mass, in the parish centre. FAITH AND JUSTICE WORKSHOP – SAT., JAN. 19TH: You are invited to join us
as we celebrate the feast of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys with a “Faith and
Justice” workshop on Saturday, January 19th, 2008. Guest speaker is Mr. Joe Gunn who is the Coordinator of the
CND Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation Office in Ottawa.
Drawing on his extensive experience in the area of justice he will
present a review of Catholic Social Teaching and help us to apply this teaching
to the issues of today, e.g. mining, water, homelessness, etc. Place: St. Charles Garnier Parish
Hall, 3645 Benvoulin Rd., Kelowna Time: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch
will be provided. This workshop is sponsored by the Sisters and
