STAN CHATHAM FUNERAL MASS:- Mon, Jan 5th at 11am.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS:- A Eucharistic Ministers Workshop will be held Sat, Jan 10th at 10am.  All Eucharistic Ministers are encouraged to attend.

PARISH VISITOR’S MEETING:- Wed, Jan 7th at 1:30pm.  All who visit the sick and shut-in parishioners are invited to attend.

BURSARIES:- The Catholic Health Association of BC will be awarding two bursaries valued at $250 each to two 2009 graduating students enrolled in a Catholic secondary school, or who are a member of a BC or Yukon parish and enrolled in a public secondary school, or who are home-schooled. Students are asked to submit a 500 word essay that demonstrates an awareness and understanding of the significance of Spirituality in Health Care. Submissions must be received on or before March 13, 2009. For further details, please refer to the poster on display in the vestibule of the church, or check the CHABC website at chabc.bc.ca under upcoming events.

PART-TIME TEACHER:- The Catholic Independent Schools of Diocese of Nelson (CISND) invites applications for a part-time teacher at St. Joseph School in Kelowna beginning mid-January.  For requirements on this position and to download the application checklist and the application form, view the School Diocesan website, www.cisnd.ca (job opportunities page).

SANDALWOOD:- Fr Charlie Mulvihill will officiate at a mass held at Sandalwood on Thurs, Jan 8 at 10am.

PARISH COUNCIL:- Our next Parish Council meeting is Scheduled for Wed, Jan 14th at 7pm.  All council members please come at 6:30pm to have our picture taken for the Pictorial Directory.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL:- The 2008 tax receipts for St Vincent de Paul are ready for pickup in the small green box in the hall. 

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BREAKFAST:-  Do not forget the K of C Breakfast after the 9 and 11 am masses next week Sun, Jan 14, 2009.

 


Tidbits from the Life of St. Pius Xth

Giuseppe Sarto, the eldest of eight children, was born into rags on June 2nd, 1835 in the village of Riese at a distance from Venice.  Family and friends knew him as “Bepi”.  When he was young, little Bepi showed an incredible aptitude towards learning and a remarkable love for the Church and the priesthood.  By the time he was ten, he not only served at mass but
