Parishes from West Kelowna to Winfield are hosting a series of Holy Hours for Priests.  Let us show our support for our priests by attending as many as possible, turning our prayers into a local pilgrimage.  The next Holy Hour will be Fri, Feb 5^th, at St. Pius X Church in Kelowna, 7:00 - 8:00 pm.  St Theresa Holy Hour will be held on Fri Feb 12^th, 1:00 – 2:00 pm everyone is welcome.

The next children’s Mass will be Feb 14^th at 11:00 am.  If you know of children who would like to join, we practice every Tuesday in the church from 7:00 ‑ 7:30 pm (after Catechism).  All children are welcome.

Those suffering from Celiac react negatively to gluten in wheat.  Since all communion hosts contain wheat, those suffering from Celiac are strongly encouraged to receive from the cup.  Please let the priest know prior to Mass and a special Communion cup will be blessed for this purpose and placed on the corner of the altar.  Due to the possibility of cross-contamination, no one receiving the Sacred Host should receive from this cup.

As part of our month-long focus on the call of God, families are encouraged to sign up to take the Traveling Chalice home and pray the prayer before any family meal.  Please sign up on the sheet provided in the church.  This initiative will continue into spring.

We would ask that the wearing of perfumes and colognes be avoided as some parishioners have allergies to scents.

Please join us at St. Pius X on Mon Jan 25^th as we view and discuss the DVD presentations given by Fr. James Mallon of the Archdiocese of Halifax on the sacraments of Healing.  The session will begin at 7:00 pm in the church.

We are hosting the acclaimed Pro Life 101 workshop at our office at 241-1889 Springfield Road on Thu, Jan 28^th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Participation is free and refreshments will be provided. Please call (250) 862‑8202 or email kelownarighttolife@telus.net to register as seating is limited.

Will be held on Sat Jan 30^th from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at the corner of Hwy 97 and Richter Street. This includes the public displaying of graphic images of abortion in an attempt to alert the public to its unacceptable reality. We will continue our Sunday evening holy hours beginning with evening prayer at 7:00 pm.  As we continue a month-long Diocesan vocation awareness program, let us pray for a renewed spirit of discernment in our parish and diocese.

A young lad was visiting a church for the first time, checking all the announcements and posters along the walls.

When he came to a group of pictures of men in uniform, he asked a nearby usher, "Who are all those men in the pictures?"

The usher replied, "Why, those are our boys who died in the service".

Dumbfounded, the youngster asked, "Was that the morning service or the evening service?"

Mass will be held each Sunday concluding on Mar 21^st.  All Masses will be at 3:30 pm in the Schumann House, at the top of the gondola.

Seton House invites you on a Lenten Journey to explore “Inner Healing through the Heart of Jesus.”  That’s the name of Mother Nadine’s book and the theme of our Journey.  We will meet from 7:00 to 9:00 pm every Thursday from Feb. 11^th to March 25^th.  The sessions will be animated by Fr. Don with assistance from Alanet & Murdo, Madeliene & Violetta.  A love offering will be taken.  Texts are available at Loaves and Fishes or Seton.  We encourage you to prepare for this heart changing journey by pre-registering (250‑764‑4333), purchasing the book and reading the first four chapters in anticipation of the first session Feb 11^th.

6 Councils of Kelowna Knights of Columbus are having a clergy appreciation dinner on Feb 20^th at IC Parish Hall.  Mass 5:30 pm, Dinner 7:00 pm.  Tickets $15 ea, Children under 12 yrs are free. A Marriage preparation course will be held at St. Charles Gamier Parish beginning on Mon Feb 1^st and concluding on Mon Feb 22^nd. The course begins at 8:00 pm. in the Parish Hall. The cost is $60.00 per couple. Please phone the Parish Office to register.

If you would like to donate to the Earthquake Relief Fund through our own Development and Peace Organization, you may do so by placing an envelope with your donation in the Sunday Collection or mail it directly to Development & Peace, 1425 Rene-Levesque Blvd West, 3^rd Floor. Montreal, QC   H3G 1T7.  Our Federal Government has promised to match all donations made to Development and Peace up to $50 Million.

Any parishioner who would like to pray in the church between the hours of 9:30 am – noon or 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm can simply come to the office and they will be let in.

A CD Release Party featuring STUDIO 11 Plus special performances by talented Immaculata students.  All proceeds raised go to the Immaculata Mexico Mission. Come out to enjoy fine Okanagan wines, great snacks, and an opportunity to help out this year’s mission raise some very necessary funds.  There will be a live auction at intermission featuring quality gifts and collectables. St Theresa’s Parish at 3:00 pm this Sun Jan 24^th.  Everyone is welcome, social to follow in the parish hall.

Two bursaries in the amount of $250 each will be given to graduating students who are enrolled in a Catholic secondary school or who are a member of a BC or Yukon parish and are enrolled in a public secondary school or are home-schooled.  Interested students are invited to submit a 500 word essay to the Association by March 12^th, 2010, that demonstrates an awareness and understanding of the significance of Spirituality in Heath Care.  Essays may be sent by regular mail to Catholic Health Association of BC, 9387 Holmes Street, Burnaby BC V3N 4C3 or via email at smhouse@shawlink.ca.  If by regular mail the submission must be postmarked on or before March 12^th, 2010.
