HOLY HOUR FOR PRIESTS - LOCAL PILGRIMAGE Parishes from West Kelowna to Winfield are hosting a
series of Holy Hours for Priests. Let
us show our support for our priests by attending as many as possible, turning
our prayers into a local pilgrimage. The next Holy Hour will be Fri,
Feb 5th, at St. Pius
X Church in Kelowna, 7:00-8:00 pm. CHILDREN’S CHOIR The next children’s Mass will be Feb 14th
at 11:00 am. If you know of
children who would like to join, we practice every Tuesday in the church from
7:00 ‑ 7:30 pm (after Catechism).
All children are welcome. HOLY COMMUNION FOR CELIACS Those suffering from Celiac react negatively to
gluten in wheat. Since all
communion hosts contain wheat, those suffering from Celiac are strongly
encouraged to receive from the cup. Please
let the priest know prior to Mass and a special Communion cup will be blessed
for this purpose and placed on the corner of the altar.
Due to the possibility of cross-contamination, no one receiving the
Sacred Host should receive from this cup. TRAVELING CHALICE As part of our month-long focus on the call of God,
families are encouraged to sign up to take the Traveling Chalice home and pray
the prayer before any family meal. Please
sign up on the sheet provided in the church.
This initiative will continue into spring. PERFUMES & COLOGNES We would ask that the wearing of perfumes and
colognes be avoided as some parishioners have allergies to scents. BEPI’S BISTRO Join us in the Fr Martin room after the 9am and 11am
masses for socializing and goodies. STRENGTHENING OUR FAITH Please join us at St. Pius X on Mon Jan 18th

Sacrament. Even if you cannot
attend any other session, please come for this one at 7:00 pm in the church. LITURGY COMMITTEE MEETING We will meet in the Fr. Martin room at 10:45 am

members to sit on our Parish Pastoral Council.

For more information www.CEEKelowna.ca or 250-317-8445 CALLED BY NAME During this year dedicated to a reflection on
priesthood, all the parishes in the Diocese of Nelson are participating in
“CALLED BY NAME”, a vocation awareness program. This is an opportunity for us: * to pray
for vocations. * to recognize the gifts and the potential for
leadership and service in members of this parish community. * to call forth and encourage these members to share Their gifts in a possible religious vocation. Perhaps you know a person who, in your view,
possesses the qualities to become a priest, sister, brother, deacon or someone
who may have gifts related to ministries in the Church or in the community.
God may even be calling you. Take
this week to pray on it. PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS TO SAY AT HOME God of all creation, in baptism you called each of
us by name to be your children. We
give you thanks and praise for this gift. BAZAAR MEETING - 2009 Wrap up party and planning for 2010 bazaar in the

Pope
Pius X In June 1914, with the news of the killing of
Austrian Archduke Francis Ferdinand, Pope Pius X instantly mobilized the papal
nuncios in each country to do all in their power to avoid a worldwide
conflict. But the war could not
be averted, by August 4th most of the major powers in Europe were
mobilized. When the
representative of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy asked the Pope to bless the
armies of the dual empire, Pius X responded: “I bless peace, not war.”
