BILLETING NEEDED:  We would like to have as many people come from around the Diocese to the Ordination of Father John Corriveau, O.F.M. Cap. as the sixth Bishop of Nelson.  We ask all parishioners of St. Pius X Parish, who have a spare bedroom, to make their homes available for the purpose of billeting people from out of town on January 30th, 2008.  If you can help, please call Catherine during the hours of 9 a.m. till noon from Monday to Friday, at 762-2587.  Thank you.

CONFIRMATION MEETING:  There will be a meeting for all candidates (and their parents) who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Pius X Parish.  This meeting will take place on Thursday, January 17th, at 7 p.m. in the hall.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BREAKFAST:  will be served this weekend after the Sunday masses.

ORDINATION OF BISHOP-ELECT JOHN CORRIVEAU, O.F.M.CAP.:  The new Bishop will be ordained to serve as the sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Nelson.  The Mass of Ordination will be at Immaculate Conception Church (839 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna) at 3 PM on Wednesday, 30 January, 2008.  A Meet-and Greet reception will follow in the parish centre.  The people of the diocese are also welcome to attend a formal banquet, following the parish reception.  The banquet will be at The Grand Okanagan Lakefront Hotel at 7 PM.  Your name will be on the guest list upon payment of $50 to your parish office.

MUSIC MINISTRY CO-ORDINATORS:  We are inviting 2-3 choristers from each parish to join a choir formed to sing at the Episcopal Ordination of Fr. John Corriveau (January 30, 3 PM).  Our choir are is very limited for space.  We will advise as to time of first practice.  Please leave voice mail at my number.  763-5222.  Thanks, Gabrielle Matte, Music co-ordinator at Immaculate Conception Church.

SERVICE OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY:  On Sunday, January 13, at First United Church (corner of Bernard & Richter).  A service of prayer for Christian Unity will take place at 3:00pm, and will be followed by a time of coffee and fellowship.

JESUS OF NAZARETH BIBLE STUDY:  Tuesday, January 15th, 7:30 – 8:30 in the Father Martin room, Chapter 5, pp. 128-150.

PROPOSALS FOR THE PARISH TO CONSIDER:  Our music ministry has asked for a retractable screen on the wall above the choir section and the mounting of a computer projector (which we have) from the ceiling.  This proposal will be before Parish Pastoral Council on Tuesday, January 16th and is open for comment.

We are also looking at renovating the sanctuary area (up front) over the next few months.  At present we have exposed wiring in the choir section (not acceptable according to code) and a need for re-carpeting.  The whole sanctuary will be looked at in regards to steps, re-wiring, and establishing a Blessed Sacrament area and choir pit.  To be funded by last year’s bazaar.  Floor plans to come at a later date.

Lastly, we are thinking about removing the tall cedar bushes separating the parking lot from the Parish Office.  Though they serve as sound barriers and are aesthetically pleasing, they are also serving as a cover for inappropriate behavior during the summer.  A more open landscaping design will be considered.  We are open to ideas and suggestions.
