MASSES
DURING LENT:
In addition to the regular masses, beginning Thursday February 7th,
St. Pius X will celebrate a 5:15 p.m. mass Monday thru Thursday and the
Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. beginning. LENTEN
RETREAT:
Father Bart will be offering a Lenten meditation on Friday evening
during Lent. The evening will
begin with the Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. and conclude by 8 p.m.
All parishioners are welcome. STATIONS
OF THE CROSS:
will be prayed at St. Pius X each Friday during Lent at 7PM. They will be led by various parish organizations according to
the following schedule. All
parishioners are encouraged to attend.
CHURCH WATCH PROGRAM:
Due to the high amount of arson related claims by churches in Western
Canada our insurance company has asked us to implement a church watch program.
Parishioners, especially those who live nearby, are encouraged to walk
by the church as part of their daily walk and report any suspicious behavior
to Father Bart (762-2587) or Barrie Stickland (862-8477).
Please do not approach or confront suspicious people.
I often simply stop and watch them from a distance, until they notice. Churches that are known to be watched suffer less vandalism,
break-ins or arson. SACRAMENT
OF THE SICK:
Monday, February 11th, there will be an opportunity to
receive the Sacrament of the Sick at the 9:45 and 5:15 p.m. masses. PROPOSALS FOR THE PARISH TO CONSIDER:
Our music ministry has asked for a retractable screen on the wall above
the choir section and the mounting of a computer projector (which we have)
from the ceiling. This proposal is open for comment. We are also looking at renovating the sanctuary area
(up front) over the next few months. At
present we have exposed wiring in the choir section (not acceptable according
to code) and a need for re-carpeting. The whole sanctuary will be looked at in regards to steps,
re-wiring, and establishing a Blessed Sacrament area and choir pit.
To be funded by last year’s bazaar.
Floor plans to come at a later date. Lastly, we are thinking about removing the tall
cedar bushes separating the parking lot from the Parish Office.
Though they serve as sound barriers and are aesthetically pleasing,
they are also serving as a cover for inappropriate behavior during the summer.
A more open landscaping design will be considered.
We are open to ideas and suggestions.
.
Last Sunday’s collection: $4,102
