Tidbits from the Life of St. Pius Xth

Fr. Giuseppe Sarto

Giuseppe Sarto was known for his hard work, prayer and his ongoing studies.  It was not uncommon to see a light in his room long after everyone went to bed and long before anyone got up.  When confronted by the housekeeper on his lack of sleep, Giuseppe admitted he slept for only four hours and that this was sufficient for his needs.  In appearance, he was as thin as a rake and was more concerned about giving clothes to the poor than he was in the clothes he wore.  Gifts given to Giuseppe were often found redistributed to the poor.
