COUNSELING

    At the request of Bishop Doyle and the priests in the Kelowna area, Ted and Bernice Fetherston moved to Kelowna to undertake the ministry of marriage counseling late in 1976.  To have lay people in this pastoral ministry was a new approach that was in the spirit of the renewal of Vatican II.

    In the intervening years, counseling were offered to hundreds of couples and individuals in the Kelowna area and many from other places.  Couples from several denominations have made use of the service.  Priests in the Kelowna area were the first who referred couples for counseling.  As time went on the ministry became known to parishioners and most of the couples were referred to by these parishioners.

    In 1984, Sr. Elaine Fayeski, C.S.J. has undertaken much of the marriage counseling to prepare couples for marriage.
