MILITIA IMMACULATA Celebrates it's monthly mass honouring the Blessed Virgin Mary on Thu,
Aug 12th, 7:00 pm at ICC.
Fr. Sebastian Puthenpura, the Spiritual Director of the MI will
celebrate mass. Flowers to honour Mary on her upcoming feast
of the Assumption are appreciated. Vases will be provided @ the church

Easter Seals Winfield The North Okanagan
Deanery’s third annual Catholic Family Camp is an opportunity for families
to come together for fun, fellowship and prayer. Located 21 km outside Kelowna
in a peaceful wooded setting, this 25-acre family-friendly site offers a
variety of recreation activities including an outdoor pool, a waterslide, in-
ground trampolines as well as plenty of lawn and playing fields. There will be
tons of activities for kids of all ages! COME
FOR THE DAY OR STAY OVERNIGHT If you can’t spare the
whole weekend, don’t miss Saturday! There will be organized activities for
the kids, separate men’s and women’s talks as well as Mass. There will be
a campfire both evenings with marshmallows and hot chocolate, bring your
roasting sticks and mugs. ACCOMMODATIONS Tent sites and powered RV
sites are available for camping. Small, rustic cabins also provide an
almost-outdoors sleeping experience. Indoor lodge rooms are also available.
There is a combination of options to suit every budget. MEALS Bring food and snacks for
your family during your stay. or sign up for any or all of the meals offered

BREAKING CEREMONY At 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 11th there will be a
ground-breaking ceremony at 3645 Benvoulin Road adjacent to St. Charles
Garnier Church in Kelowna. This
ceremony will mark the beginning of construction of our new Chancery Office
and Pastoral Centre. Everyone is

NEWS The fees for Catechism
will be going up this year. However,
if you register before the end of August, you can do so at the old rate.
If your child was with us last year, a registration form has been sent
to your home. If you need a
registration form, you can pick one up at the office. FAMILY
FUN DAY 150th commemoration of the Father Pandosy Chapel please come
and enjoy a free fun filled day at the Mission site on August 7th
from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm - opening ceremony at 1:00 pm - celebration of mass
at 5:00 pm in St. Charles Garnier Church - live entertainment throughout the
day, children's petting zoo, old fashioned crafters marketplace, quilt show,
vintage car show, and much more. There will be a BBQ starting at 5:00 pm at a
cost of $7.00 - please purchase your tickets ahead of time form the church

following Pastoral Appointments effective on September 1, 2010: Father
Cecil Nunez
is appointed Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Revelstoke, BC. Father
James McHugh
is appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Golden, BC.
Father McHugh will continue to serve as Pastor of Canadian Martyrs
Parish, Invermere, BC and St. Joseph Mission, Radium, BC.
He will continue to reside in Invermere. Father
John Kellogg
is appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Kimberley, BC and the Missions of
St. Joseph, Jaffrey, BC and St. Anthony, Canal Flats, BC. Father
Bart van Roijen is appointed Pastor of the Parishes of Holy Family (Fernie, BC) and St.
Michael’s (Sparwood, BC) and the Mission of St. Bernard (Elkford, BC).
He will reside in Sparwood. Father
Thomas Kakkaniyil, M.S.T. is appointed Pastor of Holy Cross Parish, Creston, BC
and Most Holy Redeemer Mission, Riondel, BC. Father
Francis dela Cruz
is appointed Pastor of St. Pius X Parish, Kelowna, BC. Father
Ronnie Tagnines is appointed Pastor of St. Peter’s Parish, Princeton, BC and Our Lady
of Lourdes Parish, Keremeos, BC. He
will reside in Princeton. Father
George Thattuparampil, M.S.T. has been recalled to India by the General Superior of
the Missionary Society of St. Thomas the Apostle. He will be re-assigned by his superiors.
We are grateful to Father George for his years of service in the Diocese
of Nelson. Father
Gerald Craig, O.F.M.Cap., is appointed Pastor of St. Edward Parish, Winfield, BC and Holy Spirit
Parish, Kelowna, BC. For the past
several months, Father Gerald has served as Administrator of these two parishes. Father
Gordon Walker, C.S.B. will retire from full-time
active ministry. We are delighted
that Father Gordon will continue to reside for some months in Keremeos.
Father Gordon has indicated a willingness to assist in parishes,
particularly in the Okanagan. His new address and telephone number will be sent to
you later. We pray that besides
attending to his continuing spiritual growth, Father Gordon will have occasion
to collect many birdies! We are
very grateful to Father Gordon and the Basilian Community for his many years of
